The C&O with multiple rooms, each with a unique style, is well suited to accommodate a wide range of hospitality possibilities.
The upstairs dining room is rich with C&O railway history. Once serving a as bunk room for the men who worked on the C&O railroad line between Charlottesville and Clifton Forge, it now serves as a formal dining room. The space is beautifully lit with ambient light from the windows that surround the room. It is often used for rehearsal dinners, business meetings, private dinners, cocktail receptions, and special family gatherings. The space is equipped with a projector, pull-down screen, and a convenient cable side table, making it ready for your PowerPoint presentations.
The Gallery takes its name from the rotating art offered from local artists. This room provides an intimate space for your next party or dinner. Guests are typically seated at one long table, the results are convivial and intimate. The space is versatile and can be arranged to accommodate cocktail receptions or formal sit-down dinners.
Beyond the Gallery we have an outside covered patio that reaches up to a garden terrace. These spaces are sometimes used as a place for guests to gather for cocktails before being seated for dinner.
The Outdoor Terrace is a summer time favorite surrounded by gardens of flowers and herbs, along with the ambient sounds of birds chirping. Hidden away from the walking traffic of downtown, the Terrace provides a truly unique outdoor dining experience.
The Mezzanine is cozily snuggled between the two historic buildings that make C&O restaurant. The nearly century old brick and barn wood floor gives this room its rustic old world charm. This is one of the two rooms for which we accept advance reservations.
The Covered Patio with its hand-made Italian tile tables offers a unique outdoor setting. Heated and covered, these coveted seats are a C&O favorite.
The Bistro, once refered to by a local writer as “one of the greatest rooms in America”. The eight bar stools were designed by long time friend, barman, and master woodworker – Barry Umberger. The Bistro is modeled after the bar rooms of central Europe and is a favorite of locals and UVA alumni. The crisp white linens offer a stark contrast to the rustic wood, allowing you to enjoy this well-worn setting.
